Allergies, Autoimmunity, & Transplant Rejection

In allergies, autoimmunity, and transplant rejection, the immune system attacks a target that it should be tolerating.

In allergies, your body recognizes ‘safe’ foreign bodies and environmental entities as being dangerous. In autoimmunity, your body mistakes the self for a danger. In transplant rejection, it is the donor that is being treated as a threat. In all three cases, the immune system needs to be trained to calm down.

In all three cases, today’s gold standard of treatment is typically the use of broadly immunosuppressive drugs. These sorts of drugs dial the whole immune system down, occasionally to the point of making you more susceptible to other opportunistic infections.

Our teams are working to develop solutions that can train the immune system to cease fire on their targets, without turning off the whole immune system.
