Where:
Other Location
Description:

This is a grantwriting workshop series designed for postdoctoral researchers in the life sciences/bioengineering. Attendance is by invitation only, but we may have some open spots from time to time. Event will be 100% virtual (Zoom). Please email the organizer, ciic@uchicago.edu - for availability and the Zoom link.

With many grants, we like starting with the Specific Aims page. This is a one-pager that describes a brief background on the project and its significance, its potential impact, and the innovative approach you take. With this drafted, you can schedule a program manager to give more targeted feedback on how your vision aligns with their funding priorities, and even receive some insider tips on what the reviewers might be trained to look for!

Here, we will go over some example Specific Aims pages for the R21. The goal is to put all of us into the shoes of a multidisciplinary study section, and to identify writing practices that made for an effective intro to the proposals.

Prof. Alegre will lead and talk about best practices to address the main criteria used to evaluate proposals, and then we will go into an in-depth on these pages.

Date: January 4, 2022
Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
